Project Overview

Our client is India’s first EMI-only e-commerce platform, offering a seamless shopping experience where users can browse their favourite products, add them to their cart, and check out with No Cost EMI.

As part of our innovation-driven approach, we designed and developed a user-centric module for purchasing used cars within the existing e-commerce ecosystem. This module streamlines the car-buying process by integrating key features such as a detailed product page with high-resolution images, comprehensive specifications, transparent pricing, flexible EMI plans, and convenient test drive booking options. By enhancing user engagement and accessibility, this addition transforms the car-buying journey into a smooth, hassle-free experience.

Challenges Identified, Goals Defined

Identifying challenges at the start of a UX project helps address real user needs, improve usability, and prevent costly redesigns. It ensures a seamless experience, aligns business goals, enhances accessibility, and supports long-term scalability. As here we were starting a new module under the same platform, we figured out some potential challenges and thus had set our goals:

  • The new module of used car should be aligned visually and functionally with the existing e-commerce system.
  • Increasing user engagement and conversion rate.
  • Providing all essential information to build trust and security.

Research

We started our research by engaging with stakeholders to gain a deeper understanding of our primary consumers, their workflows, pain points, product goals, and expectations. Our process included conducting market research and competitor analysis to evaluate the strengths and weaknesses of key players in the market.

Additionally, we carried out a user study to uncover more insights into their challenges, needs, and motivations, allowing us to tailor our approach effectively.

User Flow and Wireframes

Based on initial research, we defined the problem statement and designed a user flow tailored to integrating the used car module into the e-commerce platform. After refining the Information Architecture to align with the existing structure, we finalized the user flow and created low-fidelity wireframes.

Adopting a mobile-first approach, we developed low-fidelity wireframes for the module, which were then scaled up to create responsive designs optimized for desktop screens, ensuring a seamless user experience across devices.

Car Buying Journey

From the defined user flow and low-fidelity wireframes, we developed detailed wireframes that served as the foundation for the final design. These wireframes outlined every step of the car-buying journey, ensuring a seamless user experience.

Style Guide

For the design phase, we ensured consistency by selecting fonts and colour palettes from the existing e-commerce platform’s style guide. This approach maintained brand coherence and provided users with a familiar visual experience. We leveraged components from the platform's existing design library wherever possible, ensuring seamless integration and efficiency.

Additionally, we designed new components specifically tailored to the unique requirements of the used car module, ensuring functionality and usability were prioritised.
